Zwift Adds Automatic Climbing Detection on Smart Trainers
No more manual grade setup — Zwift can now detect when a rider is on a real climb outdoors and replicate it in-game.
Zwift has rolled out a new feature that uses GPS and barometric data from connected head units to detect real-world climbs and automatically apply them in the game environment.
How it works
When paired with a compatible head unit (Garmin Edge 1040, Wahoo Roam, Hammerhead Karoo), Zwift reads elevation data over BLE and modulates trainer resistance to match the actual grade of the road you are riding.
Smart Trainers supported: Wahoo KICKR V6, KICKR Move, Tacx NEO 3M, Elite Avanti.
