WHOOP Adds Native Cycling Power Meter Integration

WHOOP's latest update adds direct pairing with Bluetooth power meters. Strain calculations now use real power data, improving accuracy for cyclists.

WHOOP has added native cycling power meter integration to its wearable ecosystem. The feature allows direct pairing of Bluetooth power meters (Favero Assioma, Garmin Rally, 4iiii, Quarq) with the WHOOP 5.0 strap.

What it changesPreviously, WHOOP's Strain score for cycling was calculated from heart rate data, which has known limitations (cardiac drift, lactate threshold variability). With power meter integration, WHOOP can now calculate Strain based on power output, which is a more direct measure of metabolic cost.The validation study we reported in April 2026 found WHOOP Strain correlated with cycling TSS at r=0.87 using HR-based calculation. With power-based calculation, WHOOP claims this correlation improves to r=0.94.
