The Garmin HRM-Pro Plus is Garmin's flagship chest strap heart rate monitor. At $129, it's twice the price of the basic Garmin HRM-Dual but adds running dynamics and a longer battery life.

Accuracy: gold standard

ECG chest straps remain the gold standard for HR accuracy. The HRM-Pro Plus matches the Wahoo Trackr HRM and Polar H10 in our testing, all within 卤1 BPM at any effort level. This is the level of accuracy required for HRV-based recovery tracking and zone-precise training.

Running dynamics: a real differentiator

The HRM-Pro Plus adds running dynamics (stride length, vertical oscillation, ground contact balance, ground contact time) when paired with a compatible Garmin watch or Edge. For multisport athletes, this is a meaningful feature.

For pure cyclists, the running dynamics are irrelevant. The HRM-Dual at $89 is a better value if you don't run.

Battery life

1 year on a user-replaceable CR2032. The longest of any chest strap on the market. Wahoo Trackr HRM is 100 hours; Polar H10 is 400 hours. For forgetful users, the year-long battery of the HRM-Pro Plus is a major win.

The verdict

The Garmin HRM-Pro Plus is the best chest strap heart rate monitor for multisport athletes. The HR accuracy is gold standard, the running dynamics add real value for runners, and the year-long battery is unmatched. For pure cyclists, the Garmin HRM-Dual ($89) is the better value.
