The Wahoo TRACKR Radar is Wahoo鈥檚 first rear radar, released in 2024 and refreshed in 2026 with a brighter light and longer battery. After two months of testing, it is the best non-camera rear radar available in 2026.

Wahoo鈥檚 positioning is clear: focus on the core experience (accurate radar detection, bright light, long battery) without the complexity and cost of a camera. The result is a unit that costs $100 less than the Garmin Varia RCT715 and lasts twice as long on a charge.

Key Specifications

  • Radar detection up to 120 m
  • NO video recording
  • Light modes: Solid, Peloton, Night Flash, Day Flash
  • Battery: up to 20h day flash
  • 85 g weight
  • IPX7 water resistance
  • ANT+, Bluetooth LE
  • Wahoo Utility app (iOS/Android)
  • $249 USD MSRP

Build & Design

The TRACKR Radar is compact and lightweight. The unit mounts to a standard seatpost using Wahoo鈥檚 quarter-turn adapter and includes hardware for round and aero seatposts (D-shape requires an aftermarket adapter).

The radar sensor sits on the back of the unit, with a small status LED on the side. The unit pairs with Wahoo head units (Roam, Bolt), Garmin Edge units, and third-party apps via ANT+ and Bluetooth. Firmware updates are via the Wahoo Utility app.

Real-world Testing

Two months of daily commuting (about 1,000 km total) gave a clear picture. Radar detection is excellent 鈥?the unit picked up vehicles at 110-120 m on flat roads, slightly less than the Garmin Varia RCT715 (130-140 m) but still very usable.

The light is bright. The Day Flash mode is visible at 400+ m in daylight, slightly less than the Garmin RCT715 (500+ m) but still effective. The Night Flash mode is visible at 800+ m in low-light conditions.

Battery life is a real win. In day-flash mode, the unit lasted 18-20 hours on a charge, matching the claimed spec. This is twice the battery life of the Garmin RCT715 in day-flash mode.

The Wahoo Utility app is functional but minimal. It allows firmware updates, light mode selection, and battery status, but lacks advanced features like ride logging or incident detection.

Pros

  • $249 MSRP is $150 cheaper than the Garmin RCT715
  • Best-in-class battery life (20h day flash)
  • Lightweight at 85 g
  • Compact form factor
  • ANT+ / Bluetooth connectivity
  • No subscription required

Cons

  • NO video recording
  • Radar range is slightly less than Garmin (120 m vs 140 m)
  • Day Flash visibility is slightly less than Garmin (400 m vs 500 m)
  • No D-shape seatpost adapter included
  • Wahoo Utility app is minimal
  • No WiFi (firmware updates via Bluetooth)

Verdict

The Wahoo TRACKR Radar is the best non-camera rear radar of 2026. It is the right choice for riders who want accurate radar detection and a bright light without the cost and complexity of a camera. Riders who want video recording should consider the Garmin Varia RCT715 ($399). Riders on a tighter budget should consider the Magene L508 ($179, see below). For everyone else, the TRACKR Radar is an excellent choice.
