ENVE SES 6.7 Review - JoyVelo.com
Asymmetric design is most noticeable in two scenarios. First: in crosswinds, where the front wheel is the deeper 67 mm and the rear is the shallower 64 mm, which reduces side-force on the rear and keeps the bike more stable in gusts.

Asymmetric depth (67 mm front / 64 mm rear) is the standout feature. In crosswinds, the shallower rear reduces side-force and keeps the bike more stable. The hookless design is fast and stiff but only takes tubeless tires.
Pros
- Asymmetric depth optimizes crosswind handling
- Hookless carbon is fast and stiff
- Lifetime warranty
Cons
- $3,500 per wheelset
- Hookless only (no tube compatibility)
- Front hub is noisy under hard cornering

TL;DR
The SES 6.7 is ENVE’s 67-64 mm asymmetric hookless carbon climbing / all-round aero wheelset. Designed to optimize crosswind stability by using a deeper front and a shallower rear. Tested over 2,000 km in JoyVelo’s summer block.
Unboxing & Design
ENVE packaging is premium — the wheels ship in custom-fitted boxes with tubeless valves and tape included. The box has a unique tool-free opening design.
Setup & Installation
Hookless carbon rims require tubeless tires and a compressor for initial seating. ENVE Alloy Disc hubs are centerlock disc only — adapters are available for 6-bolt but you need to buy them separately. Initial setup is identical to other hookless wheelsets.
Real-World Data
In JoyVelo’s testing, the asymmetric depth makes a real difference in crosswind handling. The shallower rear reduces side-force, which keeps the bike more stable in gusts. Freehub engagement is 40 points of contact, which is fast but not as fast as the Zipp Cognition’s 54 points.
Long-Term Use
The SES 6.7 is the right answer for a rider who wants ENVE quality and the asymmetric depth feature. The front-hub noise is a known issue and is more noticeable under hard cornering. Less ideal for: riders who want the absolute fastest freehub engagement.
Competitor Comparison
Main competitors: Zipp 454 NSW (better crosswind stability, similar price), Reserve 52|63 (cheaper, more versatile), Roval Rapide CLX II (deeper, more aero).
Final Verdict
The SES 6.7 is a strong all-round aero wheelset. The asymmetric depth is a real feature, not just marketing. Buy it if you want ENVE quality. Skip if you want the absolute best crosswind stability (the 454 NSW is better) or the lowest price (the Reserve 52|63 wins).
