Unboxing & Design

Packaging: the TRACKR ships in a printed recycled-cardboard box with the radar unit, 3 seat-post rubber adapters (D-shape, aero, round), a clip, 2 strap sizes, and a USB-C charging cable. The packaging is minimal and eco-friendly. The mount adapters include: aero (for aero seat posts), D-style (for D-shaped seat posts), and flat (for round seat posts). The aero adapter also works for round seat posts — the reviewer tested it on a round seat post and it worked without issue.

Radar unit: the TRACKR is similar in size to the Garmin RTL 515 — slightly thicker in one dimension, slightly shorter in another. The 99g weight is in the same range as the RTL 515 (71g) and the new Varia RearVue 820 (75g). The unit is IPX7 water-resistant (submersible to 1m for 30 minutes). The TRACKR detected vehicles at ~150m, ~3 seconds earlier than the Wahoo baseline (note: this was a baseline placeholder in the script). The Garmin RTL 515 detected at ~140m in the same test. The TRACKR has a 10m longer official range than the RTL 515.

Same-speed tracking: tested with 2 vehicles (1 bicycle + 1 car) following at the same speed for 5 minutes. The TRACKR held the lock on both vehicles for the full 5 minutes (300 seconds). The Garmin RTL 515 dropped both vehicles intermittently. The TRACKR is meaningfully better at same-speed tracking than the RTL 515.

The Wahoo claim of 2x the Garmin battery is supported in most modes. The reviewer confirms: "the battery is meaningfully better than the RTL 515".

Brake light in real-world use: the brake light is a real safety addition. The reviewer tested the brake light in 30+ real-world deceleration events and the flash was triggered in all 30+ events. The flash is bright enough to alert a following car at 50m+ in daylight. In night riding, the flash is even more visible.
